This body of work is by far one of the most experimental projects I’ve put together. This naturally combines a lot of nerves and excitement for its release and I hope you enjoy it!
Roughneck - Roughneck is my take on a darker more ambient style of Drum and Bass. Heavily influenced by foley noises and big sounding break beats, I tried to put my own spin on an abstract sound. The distorted synths and weary background noises give a certain horror style edge to the song which I thought was really unique. At the time of making this, I was listening to a lot of MetalHeadz and Greycode songs which inspired me to push the boat out creatively.
Kilimanjaro - Kilimanjaro is quite a sonically challenging tune. The stereo movement on the synth and distortion throughout was hard to tame but I think I’ve managed the best I could have. A lot of the samples in this EP are heavily influenced by old sound clashes. Kilimanjaro pays its respects to that culture whilst sampling an old clash from 95’ from no other than Black Kat and Killamanjaro. This is my take on a dark 4am picker upper and I really hope it’s enjoyed across the dance floors!
Olhão - Olhão, named after a city in the south region of Portugal, is my take on a rough and ready style of Drum and Bass. This song means a lot to me after spending a lot of time in Olhão in my teenage years and making friends there. The song reminds me of the pace of the city. Fast beats, rough synths, and flanged vocals. I really hope everyone enjoys this EP, it’s a very experimental take on my music and I’m nervous to put it out but nevertheless the show must go on!
